How was your Easter? We had a great one. The kids are finally big enough that dyeing eggs is actually fun. It was a beautiful Spring evening when we decided to dye eggs, so we had a family cookout/egg dyeing party outside. We already planned to eat some sort of apple pie dessert for supper; because we had just finished the book How to Make an Apple Pie and See The World. My daughter’s dairy allergy makes traditional apple pie a little difficult, and I wanted the kids to be able to help make the dessert. The kids brainstormed fun ideas for our apple pie, and we decided on the Grilled Apple Pie Pizza.
Grilled Apple Pie Pizza
My youngest was set on chocolate with the apple pie. I am so thankful for Enjoy Life Dairy Free Chocolate Chips and her love of dairy free dark chocolate. Every girl needs a little chocolate in her life! The Enjoy Life chocolate chips taste and cook exactly like traditional chocolate chips. My oldest was set on marshmallows with our apple pie. I wasn’t sure how we were going to figure out adding marshmallows to a fruit pie, but they worked perfectly on the grilled apple pie. They had the lovely toasted on the outside and gooey on the inside texture of roasted marshmallows!
Do You Camp?
This would be a great camping dessert. We plan to take the kids camping for the first time this Spring. I know they would love to snack on this while star gazing! Have you ever camped with kids? If so, please leave me any tips of tricks in the comments. I know I will need all of the help I can get and don’t be surprised to see a camping board pop up on my Pinterest account soon!
Grilled Apple Pie Pizza is an easy fun dessert.
- 1 Ready Made Pizza Crust like Boboli
- 21 oz Apple Pie Filling
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cup Mini Marshmallow
- 1/3 cup Chocolate Chips I use Enjoy Life Dairy Free Mini Chips
Pre-heat grill to 450-500 degrees. Melt Coconut Oil and brush on Pizza Crust. Place Pizza Crust on a flat pan or a piece of aluminum foil to cook. Sprinkle Cinnamon on Pizza Crust. Layer all Apple Pie Filling, Mini Marshmallow, then Chocolate Chips on crust. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes until Chocolate Chips are melted and Marshmallows are toasted.
Don’t Have a Grill?
No problem just cook prepare pizza the same as above and cook under the broiler for 7 to 10 minutes checking marshmallows frequently. I don’t know about your broiler, but mine can take a dish from perfect to completely torched in 30 seconds. So, I always keep a close eye on anything I am cooking using the broiler.
